Boasting of a rich history, Montreal bustles with a wonderful culture. The populous city can be overwhelming for tourists, especially when they have no idea about which places to visit. Peter Triassi, Montreal resident, shares on this blog post some of the places to enjoy when visiting his hometown.

Montrealers take street fairs seriously. Open throughout the year, street fairs on main thoroughfares and neighborhoods can acquaint tourists with great food, exclusive product finds, and tasteful music. The streets of Old Montreal are majestic and inviting, with an incredible architecture built as early as the 17th century. The cobblestoned district is the primary site of the country's French roots. Old Montreal is home to some of the city's beloved restaurants, museums, and shopping boulevards, notes Peter Triassi.

The Notre-Dame Basilica is a historic site that is never to be missed. Its Gothic Revival architecture makes it a testimony of the creativity and excellent craftsmanship of religious artists. Founded in 1931, the Botanical Garden is 190 acres of greenhouses and gardens. It houses the Japanese Garden, First Nations Garden, and Alpine Garden. Over 22,000 species of flora can be explored in its relaxing grounds. A sum of 10 greenhouses sits in the garden.

The Contemporary Art Museum of Montreal was established in 1964 and had been displaying several of the greatest contemporary art throughout the world. The Musée d'Art Contemporain de Montréal showcases installations, paintings, digital and sound works, sculptures, and ephemeral pieces. Sharing only the tip of the iceberg through this post, Peter Triassi of Montreal is proud of his city.
